The 8th Grade Dress Up Dance
8th Grade Dance: June 21st 7:00-9:30pm
****Tickets will go on sale in June****

The 8th grade dance will be on Friday, June
21st. This 8th grade event is an exciting time for our students as they make the leap into high school. The important thing to remember is that this is a dress up dance, not a prom or semi-formal. It is not designed to be a date/limo/corsage/ gown wearing event, but a time for 8th graders to come together and celebrate their time at the McCarthy. The recommendations about what to wear are the same as they have been for the past several years.

Boy’s attire:
Boys are expected to wear a shirt with a collar, and dress pants (pants other than
sweats, blue jeans, and track pants, no shorts). They are expected to choose clothes that fit well, and their pants should be properly hemmed. Boys should wear shoes (not sneakers).
Girl’s attire:
Girls should wear nice dresses or skirts and blouses and comfortable dress shoes. They should not wear prom dresses. Halter tops and spaghetti straps are acceptable, but the bodice of the dress must be middle-school appropriate. There may be no low necklines, no backless, no strapless dresses, no cut-outs and no exposed midriffs. Girls should avoid tight dresses, mid-thigh slits and very short skirts.

Attendance Hotline
If your child will be home from school, please call us at 251-5122 x 4000 or email us at mccarthy_attendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us  to report your child absent.   If you do not call in, our office will issue a ConnectEd message to the families of all absent students whose parent has not called in.  It will be a generic message indicating that your child is absent and to please call back or send in a note the next day to insure that the absence is recorded as an excused absence instead of an unexcused absence.  The last part of the message urges you to contact immediately if you believe our call to be an error.  That way if believe your child is at school and he/she is not, both home and school will know that immediately.
