McCarthy Announcements
Grade 8 Activities: Canobie Trip & Dance
Canobie Lake Park Trip

The trip to Canobie is scheduled for June 19th with a rain date of June 20th.  Click HERE for the permission Form.  The permission form and the payment is due into HR by May 18th.

Dress Up Dance

The 8th grade dance will be on Friday, June 15th.  This 8th grade event is an exciting time for our students as they make the leap into high school. The important thing to remember is that this is a dress up dance, not a prom or semi-formal. It is not designed to be a date/limo/corsage/ gown wearing event, but a time for 8th graders to come together and celebrate their time at the McCarthy. The recommendations about what to wear are the same as they have been for the past several years and can be found in the most recent McCarthy Community News newsletter.

Academic Honor Code

At Chelmsford Middle Schools, students are expected to maintain high moral and ethical standards.  Students should respect themselves, other students, staff members and the school.  The acts of cheating and plagiarism violate expectations that students will exhibit respectful, ethical behavior. The Academic Honor Code exists to address the issues of cheating and plagiarism.  Please click HERE to access the policy.

Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
As you are well aware, students need to possess and show their bus pass to ride their assigned school bus. That is true for students who are required to pay and those who are not.  Students will not be allowed to ride the bus without their specific bus pass.  If you have not received a bus pass call Central Office immediately, 978-251-5100.  Pick-up and drop off is on the tennis court/police department side of the building.  Despite the increased volume of cars last year, the drop-off ran smoothly. Communication

Communication is a priority for us at the McCarthy School.  Collectively as a staff we believe that strong two-way communication between school and home is vital for your children’s growth here at school. There are many ways in which this communication can take place.  This newsletter for example will come to you in an email once every other week, usually over the weekend.  Like last year, it will appear as a link in the email and will be posted in the Home School Communication tab on the new website.  To sign up to receive our newsletter, McCarthy Community News, click here: Subscribe to Newsletter.  Read more...

Attendance
We are utilizing our ConnectEd capabilities to better insure the safety of your children.  If your child will be home from school, please call us at 251-5122 x 4000 or email us at mccarthy_attendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us  to report your child absent.   If you do not call in, our office will issue a ConnectEd message to the families of all absent students whose parent has not called in.  It will be a generic message indicating that your child is absent and to please call back or send in a note the next day to insure that the absence is recorded as an excused absence instead of an unexcused absence.  The last part of the message urges you to contact immediately if you believe our call to be an error.  That way if believe your child is at school and he/she is not, both home and school will know that immediately.
